Marsh Heron

A patient wading hunter of the reed beds, motionless until it isn’t.

Marsh Herons wade the Tidal Marshes where the water rises and falls, standing still for long stretches and then striking fast. They fly between feeding grounds.

Field notes

  • Stillness is how a heron hunts; it is also how you watch one.
  • Follow the herons and you find where the small life is.
