Glowing Chipmunks scurry along the woodland floor and build dams across spring-fed streams. A dam holds back water, floods the ground behind it, and in time breaches and erodes. A meadow can become a pond in a few seasons, and the animals that live there change with it.
They are the ancestral line the Bristlekin later descended from: the same family, a different path.
Field notes
- Follow a stream uphill to find a colony’s dams.
- Watch a dam after heavy rain: the water rises, and so does the work.
